The standards of practice 
The standards of practice are recognized throughout the industry by professionals and the legal system as the golden rule in building inspections.
The standards of practice inform the public on the nature and the scope of an inspection prior to purchasing a property. They provide the guidelines during the inspection and up to the written report. The Standards defines certain terms relative to the inspection of the building in order to ensure a common understanding.
The inspection service agreement
Conceived to better protect the public, the AIBQ has drafted a service agreement for building inspections, annexes for inspections of condominium and small commercial buildings.
Declaration by the owner
The form “Building Declaration by the owner” is a tool intended to gather information permitting the owner to declare, to the best of his knowledge, the information on the key components of the building and to provide the documents (invoices, warranties, reports, plans, permits, etc..) relating to work performed on the building.
The AIBQ requires that a declaration by the owner be completed and strongly recommends the use of the form «Building Declaration by the owner» enacted by the Association des courtiers et agents immobiliers du Québec (www.acaiq.com) in collaboration with AIBQ.
